JAVA Introduction

This course provides a detailed introduction to Java, including thorough presentation of all aspects of classes and objects. It is especially designed to give mainframe programmers a solid foundation in object-oriented concepts and how to implement these concepts in JAVA. Over 150 complete programs with input and output, or GUI display, illustrate how to use each topic. The class format is 50% lecture and discussion and 50% programming exercises.
AUDIENCE Programmers (especially mainframe programmers) for whom this is their first object-oriented language. Prerequisites are programming in any language.
GOALS
  • Create intermediate-level Java programs using compiled statement, the core API, and the AWT
  • Utilize Java documentation to learn additional packages available with Java
